I don't know about the US these days.  In the EU, unfortunately so far the
legal requirement is exactly that, 10 years spares availability. Some
organizations are working to expand it on products that you'd expect to
last longer than that.  No idea how successful they'll be.

Also, a minimum 2-year warranty is required on pretty much everything.
You'd think that such a law would raise prices.  That really hasn't
happened, from what I can tell.
