[Hunt03] This year's hunt & stuff to do
I found myself thinking today about the Mystery Hunt, and a few things
came to mind, which I couldn't answer, so I thought I'd get the ball
rolling:
1. Are we planning on addressing the parts of the Hunt registration
page, quoted here?:
>Teams should have a minimum of five people with at least one MIT
>student. Optimal size is at least 10-15 team members, with plenty of
>MIT student participation.
I think I panicked a bit too much when I first saw this, but upon
looking back at it, I notice that it says "at least" 10-15 team members,
so even if our usual size is a bit big for this, it wouldn't be
disallowed. However, it does say "plenty of MIT student participation."
If we add "plenty" of MIT students to our team, assuming we could find
them, the team would get a bit large. Which leads to the painful, but
necessary question of whether or not we should split up into 2 teams.
I'm not sure if we should or not, personally I don't want to, but I can
see the possibility that we might have to. I want to hear from as many
of you as possible on this topic.
2. We do not have a hunt HQ as yet this year, and need to reserve one,
with the following in mind (again from the Hunt Registration page):
>Please note: our headquarters will be on the 1st floor of building 4.
>Please do not reserve a room nearby for your team headquarters.
Of course, we do need to address topic #1 first. Any HQ should have
the usual amenities:
- proximity to main campus locations (preferably in the main
building of course)
- Network drops
- A wi-fi network if possible
- Plenty of outlets, windows, anything else comfy
- A decent amount of working space
Can I get a volunteer to look for an HQ, once we've addressed topic #1?
Needless to say, we have to talk about team size and MIT student
membership ASAP.
3. Since we have the mandate of "plenty of MIT student participation,"
does anyone have any ideas for getting more MIT students onto our team?
Do we want to consider people with an MIT association, past or present,
to be MIT students? Who on our team has MIT association? Does the fact
that I got accepted to MIT while in high school count? Answers to these
and other questions tommorow on "One Hunt to Live"...
Please, let's get this discussion going, so we can get our team(s) set
as soon as possible. For many of us, plans have to be made. Thanks!
