(ET) Tractors keep chugging along (mower motor check)
So for the 4th I figured it was a good day to do some mowing. Center
motor was louder than normal it's a fat model and I believe I redid one
of the magnets years ago. Possible the magnet had come loose again?
Took the top off, dropped the armature and bottom. Nope, magnets are
fine the bottom bearing is noisy. Have some new ones on order anyway and
I have to say taking the hat off is such a pain I sometimes just cut the
things lengthwise. Speaking of which how is the world supply of mower hats?
Instead I cleaned up the bottom of the motor/bearing, put some
penetrating oil in, and that loosens up the dry grease/clay in there.
Motor is back together, quieter, happy.
So now I have 3 Elec-traks, 2 E15's and the E20. The nice "new" E15 runs
around with a trailer as a doodlebug, the second E15 has the blade on it
and is crashing into yard junk. It's the one where I re-welded the
rusted frame and those welds are... holding well.
The E20 has the deck on it and it's the general purpose tractor.
I finished rebuilding the pressure washer; the pump was leaky and old so
I replaced it with a 3000psi China one. Which works.... fine, an E12
motor is really the smallest thing that will run that pressure but to be
honest an E15 or E20 motor would make it too heavy to easily move
around. What I really need is a "carrier" for it that I can slide into
the front or rear stab mounts so I can carry it where I want to go and
not have to deal with rolling on the little wheels.
Never dull. New tires and wheels are coming for the big Elec-Trak rust
cart I got; then I'll wire brush it down and POR15 the interior. That
should keep it stable for another few decades. Based on the rust I'm
guessing it sat in vegetation with the dump cart in dumped mode for a
decade or two. Happens....
