29 is the 29th of the month
692 is the low-order 3 digits of a sequence number for E12 machines (2692)

So, your tractor's "birthday" is August 29, 1972

The sequence number can't be determined without a "master list" of all 
E12 machines.  Some years ago I collected serial numbers and made a list 
containing about 3,000 machines (out of GE's total of about 33,000), 
enough to be able to determine the actual sequence numbers.
