Let's hope that they at least last longer - and stay at full brightness 
longer - than incandescents.

Every few months I look (mostly at Superbrightleds, because they're one of 
the few operations I trust) to see if I can get retrofit LEDs for backup 
lights that will definitely out-illuminate the incandescents in my car.  
So 
far, none of them has been rated as high in lumen output as the 
incandescents they would replace.

I did swap the taillamps, parking lamps, and license lamps for LEDs, 
because 
I got tired of changing burned-out incandescents.  (Why is it that factory 
bulbs last for years, and replacements last for months?) The LEDs are 
adequate, but noticeably dimmer than the incandescents they replaced.
