I agree with the others that the most likely culprit here is the main 
cutout.  To confirm, measure the voltage drop across the switch under 
load.  
You can also check its resistance (dead circuit) with your ohmmeter.  It 
should effectively measure zero ohms.

However, I'm puzzled as to why you're seeing symptoms only after mowing 
1/4 
acre.  That may involve a separate issue.  Have you checked for a flaky 
battery in the pack?
