Re: (ET) Looking for Gator/Mulching Blades for E-20/C-185

Robert,

I am using Gatorblades now and they do a good job of mulching. The current
draw of the motors increases from about 6amps to 11.5 amps so you will cut
down your mowing time on a charge--although if you are mowing a small area
it won't matter. I mow a half acre lot and there is still plenty of charge
left in the batteries even when the grass is heavy.

I used Gator Blades from Jack's Small Engines,
http://www.jackssmallengines.com/gatdixiechopper.cfmpart) number 90414.
However the center hole is bigger than the shafts on the motors so you will
need reducing bushings. Steve S. from our Elec-Trak group made the
bushings for me.

The blade dimensions were .203 thickness, 14 1/2" long with a 5/8" center
hole. GatorBlade may have introduced new sizes since I ordered mine well
over a year ago. Check with Jack's.

I don't have any baffles on my deck so these fit fine. If you have baffles
you may want to measure and make sure 14 1/2" isn't too long. You may need
to remove the baffles or order shorter blades.

I didn't block my discharge chutes. Gator claims it is not necessary as
they are designed so the airflow keeps recycling the clippings over the
blade edges within the deck. Apparently they are right as not a lot of
clippings come out of the discharge area at all. However, if you mulch
leaves in the
fall (which they do a good job on) better wear a mask. You'll have leaf
dust
in your hair, up your nose and a layer of it over the whole tractor.

how
did it work out? Where did you get your blades? Any information would be
helpful.
